Do You Know that a Good Microwave Makes Good Popcorn?
A Cuisinart Microwave, Anyone?
For many, a quick meal after work is the only option available. Cooking an extensive dinner can be time consuming and stressful. This is what makes the home microwave so handy.
It’s easy to just put a ready-made meal or to prepare something quickly with a microwave. However, what can really damage anyone’s quick dinner is a microwave that burns food, over cooks it, or simply doesn’t work as expect.
For this reason, it is important to take a few things into consideration when choosing your home microwave. As with any kitchen appliance selection, there will always be a Cuisinart product to consider.
Cuisinart may command solid reputation when it comes to blender and coffee maker. But what about Cuisinart microwave oven? Most people are familiar with Panasonic microwave but a Cuisinart?
In this microwave oven review, we examine Cuisinart CMW-200 microwave oven. Let’s see how it fares especially when we know the bar has been set high by the big boys like Panasonic Genius Prestige.
What to Expect of Cuisinart CMW-200
One of the first considerations that anyone should take into account when purchasing a home microwave is the size. While you do not want something that is overly bulky, you want to choose a product that has ample space to microwave what you like and fit your dishes.
The Cuisinart CMW-200 is one of those products that strikes the perfect balance between a spacious product and having a compact size. While it has a large 1.2 cubic foot capacity, it is not particularly heavy.
The sleek stainless steel high-end design makes Cuisinart CMW-200 a fantastic addition in my kitchen. The windows are made from tinted glass. And it comes with an easy to use LDC digital touchpad.
The next consideration that one should make when buying a microwave is related to the capabilities. You want to look for a microwave that is able to heat food properly and thoroughly, and that also has a range of heat settings.
This particular microwave operates at 1000 watts and has 9 pre-set cooking options. There is also a multi-stage cooking system so you can operate on one setting. Once the setting is complete, it will automatically switch to the setting of your choice.
You can also defrost food by weight or time. In addition to these capabilities, this product has two other fantastic features.
It has a built in convection oven and grill. So, you aren’t just getting a basic microwave, but a machine that has other very useful capabilities. You can convection bake or roast foods that would go into a traditional oven, or you can even grill whatever you like.
To make these cooking capabilities easier, this product also comes with a instruction and recipe book so you can make a number of quick and easy meals.
Lastly, the final component that you should be aware of are the product’s features. This microwave comes with a 12 inch rotating glass tray, a reversible grill rack, and nine defrost options.
The body of this microwave is stainless steel and embossed with the Cuisinart logo. The window of the microwave is tinted, which gives the entire product a sleep and upscale appearance.
Each of these features is extremely ease to wipe down and clean, making this product an especially simple product to maintain and upkeep. You don’t need to worry about intense scrubbing and so forth.
In addition, one of the greatest benefits of this product is the 3-year warranty that it comes with. Should you have any problems or if a part needs to be replaced, you can contact the company and they will help you out.
I have few Cuisinart appliances in my kitchen. I’ve so far had little issue with most of them. When I was looking for the best microwave to replace the ageing unit in my countertop, I did set my sight on Cuisinart CMW-200.
But I was held back by one concern that plagued many owners. I’m not sure how the following shortcoming relate to you. But I thought this is a basic concern that anyone thinking of buying this oven should be aware of.
The Convection Feature Shouldn’t be Included
A microwave oven plus convection grill oven. Hmmm…
That sounded like the dream oven that anyone would love to have. At least on paper.
Since I decided not to get this oven, I couldn’t lend a personal testament about this. Instead, what I can do is provide the concerns that had been raised in numerous oven reviews.
One sticking pain related to Cuisinart CMW-200′s convection feature has to do with the slow pre-heating time. In a number of toaster oven reviews that I came across, a number of users reported that it took them 3 to 4 times as long for their Cuisinart to reach 400+ Farenheit compared to the normal but dedicated convection toaster oven.
It seems that this 2-in-1 attempt from Cuisinart is still some distance away from perfection, more so when we talk about the best toaster oven.
So What Now?
I’ve always been a fan of Cuisinart. But I see Cuisinart CMW-200 as too big a risk to take.
My main argument against it lies with the convection feature. I assessed the risk based on the reviews that I’ve come across. Since this looks like a feature that shouldn’t have been there in the first place, I see very slim chance of it being of any use.
“Why pay for a feature that you’ll use only once or maybe twice?” that was my thought.
But don’t take my decision for granted. I may be wrong. In fact, I’m really interested to find out if you think the convection feature is great.
So, do you think this is the best microwave oven that you should rush to get it? If you’re all made-up, good. If not and convection is what you’re looking for, be sure to check our pick for the best convection oven. But if microwave is what you’re looking for, our match-up of the best microwave ranges would be what you want to look at.

Why use meat processing products to process your own meat? Are you sick of paying sky high prices for mass-produced sausages, jerky, and other meat products that are lacking in real flavor, are full of additives and preservatives, and are made with undesirable animal parts? Are you fed up with sending deer and other wild game to meat processors without knowing exactly how they’ll process your meat? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then processing your own meat might be the right move for you!
There are several reasons why people choose to use meat processing products to process their own meat, instead of purchasing items that are commercially produced or enlisting a processor to handle meat from your latest hunt for wild game. We’ve put together the top five reasons to process meat on your own:
Taste – It’s not a secret that homemade sausage, jerky, and meat cuts taste better than commercially processed products. When you process your own meat, you can add your own preferred blend of seasonings and spices.
Cost: Sausage and jerky made at home is less expensive than mass-produced sausage and jerky.
Health: Homemade sausage is better for your health, as well as the health of those who get to enjoy it with you. You’re in full control of the fat and salt content, and you will not have to worry about the addition of chemicals, preservatives, and other additives.
Quality: You are in control of what cuts of meat are used in sausage and jerky made at home. You can eliminate all worry of lips, ears, and other unwanted miscellaneous parts being used in the sausage and jerky you are consuming.
Control: If a friend or game processor processes newly caught deer or other wild game, you do not have control over what procedures are used. They might include “leftovers” from other game animals in your processed meat, and you will not be able to determine which cuts of the animal were used in making the sausage.
MeatProcessingProducts.com has all of the equipment and supplies you need to successfully process your own meat and make homemade sausage and jerky. Whether you want to process your own deer or game, or just make some tasty Italian sausage or bratwurst from meat you buy from the butcher or grocery store, we have all of the meat processing products you need.
Cuisinart CMW-200 review: Why is this microwave oven making waves?
Peter AllenFollow Aug 7, 2019 · 9 min read Cuisinart CMW-200 review: Why is this microwave oven making waves?
Today, we will go through the Cuisinart CMW-200 microwave oven, which is one of the best in the market today. Below, we have noted down about the brand and the product in this Cuisinart CMW-200 review.
The best way into someone’s heart is through that person’s stomach. Everybody has a weakness for delicious food. In such cases, a microwave helps you achieve this objective. In today’s time, you will rarely find a house without a kitchen. People prefer investing in a top microwave oven. It is a fit for every kitchen. You will find a lot of different vegetarian and non-vegetarian recipes that can be prepared with a great amount of efficiency with the help of this appliance.
The concept of microwave cooking
It is obvious that you need heat to cook your food. Microwave ovens make use of microwaves to generate heat. A microwave is a type of wave that can be found between infrared radiation and radio waves on the electromagnetic spectrum. This type of wave is absorbed by fats, sugar, and water and generates heat as well. Additionally, this wave is not absorbed by ceramics, glass, and plastics.
Microwaves are reflected by metals. Hence, it is advised that you do not make use of metal utensils in a microwave oven.
Difference between a traditional oven and a microwave oven
Before diving deeper into the world of microwave ovens, we need to make sure that the differences between traditional and microwave ovens are laid out, plain and simple. In traditional ovens, the appliance works according to the principles of heat conduction. This means that hear passes from the outside of the food to the middle.
On the other hand, microwave ovens make use of radio waves to penetrate into the food and excite the fat molecules and water evenly throughout. There is no mitigation of heat and the overall process is kept uniform. Because heating is kept uniform, you will be able to save a lot of time when you cook your food in this appliance.
What are the different types of microwave ovens?
You will find two types of microwave ovens in the market today. These are convection mode ovens and conventional mode ovens. Further, conventional ovens are divided into grille and solo ovens. Let us check the differences:
Conventional microwave oven
This type of microwave oven works on the principle of microwaves that comes out through the glass or plastic containers to cook your meal. As said above, conventional microwave ovens are of two types — the grille and solo types.
There are not many differences between the two. A grille conventional microwave oven, you have a lot of presets for grilling or cooking food. A solo microwave oven is more used for reheating food and cooking certain easy recipes. In short, a grille oven is an improvement over a solo oven.
Convection microwave oven
This type of oven makes use of two different types of technology that work simultaneously. Additionally, you also have the heating technology here, which is a combination of radiation and microwaves from the intense quartz halogen bulb. This allows you to cook faster and add a subtle taste to the food as well.
A convection microwave oven is also fitted with a fan on the backside that circulates the heated air around. Hence, food gets cooked much faster and makes it crunchier.
Since convection microwave ovens make use of so many different types of technological advancement, it is quite obvious that they are more expensive than their conventional counterparts.

Certain features you will find in most microwave ovens
Some of the top microwave ovens are fitted with some common features. These are:
Auto cook menu
This is a feature that you will see in most top-graded microwave ovens. This is basically a preset program that will help you simplify the preparation of different types of recipes. All you need to do is select the type of food item and its weight. Once done, the microwave will automatically calculate the time required to cook the food and set the power accordingly.
Child lock facility
When you have children at home, you ought to be careful, especially if you have a heavy kitchen appliance around. Also, it should be noted that the oven should not be opened midway while cooking because of the tremendous amount of heat inside of it.
Children are curious by nature. Hence, they will always end up doing what they are told not to do. Therefore, most modern microwave ovens are installed with child lock and other such features to protect the child from harmful accidents.
This is one feature that non-vegetarians would relate to the most. As the name suggests, the defrosting feature allows you to unfreeze frozen food faster than waiting for it to thaw by itself. All you need to do is put the frozen food inside the oven and let the appliance do the rest of the work. The flavor and taste of the food will not change.
There are some food items that require a lot of time to cook, like pastries and cakes. These food items require you to preheat the oven to a fixed temperature before you can begin baking. Due to this, the microwave oven can end up consuming a lot of power and time. Thanks to the preheat option, you can save a lot on your power bill.
Modern microwave ovens are fitted with automatic timers that work according to the type of food and its weight. You can also manually set the timer as well. With the help of a timer, you can engage in other kitchen chores while the oven cooks the food. You do not have to worry about overcooking it accidentally. The CMW-200 microwave is manufactured by Cuisinart, an American brand. The company was founded in 1971 and it is now owned by Conair Corporation.
Cuisinart specializes in home and mostly kitchen appliances and they produce more than just microwaves: blenders, food processors, coffee makers, tools, cutlery and much more.
The CMW-200 is a countertop convection microwave oven with a grill function. It is a high-end piece of kitchenware, powerful, with an elegant design and it is medium sized.
Here are its main specifications:
- Dimensions (L x W x H): 21.20” x 19.00” x 12.20”
- UC weight: 38 lb.; MC weight: 41.30 lb.
- 2 cubic ft.
- Oven capacity: 32L
- Stainless steel interior
- Power: 1000W
- Touchpad control with LCD
- Rotating 12” glass tray
The CMW-200 has a beautiful, luxurious design, with a brushed stainless steel and black frame and a tinted glass window. It has touchpad controls and a lot of features and options. The door opens by pushing a button. The stainless steel interior doesn’t absorb smells and it is also easy to clean. Here are the most important features of the CMW-200:
- 9 presets (reheat, popcorn, pizza, roast chicken, frozen vegetable, potato, cake, fresh vegetable, beverage)
- Grilling option (comes with a reversible grill rack)
- Multi-stage cooking
- 30 seconds button
- Defrost function
- Convection roast and fast bake
- LED display with a clock/timer, depending on your preference
The multi-stage option is very useful for when you have to prepare something that requires a lot of stages: defrosting, baking and then grilling the same food, for instance.
There is also a recipe book included, that might give you further ideas on how you can use the microwave.
The CMW-200 has a power of 1000 watts and it comes with 10 power levels. The 1000W become 1500 watts with the convection feature and 1100 watts with the convection grill function.
One thing we didn’t like about the CMW-200 was its door mechanism. Something as basic as pushing a button to open the microwave door can be an irritating task. Also, the entire mechanism seemed a bit fragile to us and after further research, we found out others had problems with it as well.
The fact that it is a convection oven is a very big thumbs up for the Cuisinart CMW-200 microwave. Roasting is one of its biggest strengths. Convection ovens are also appreciated for the fact that they can prepare your meals faster. The way convection works in the case of the CMW-200 is through a heat source, found at the top.
The microwave also has a fan on the back which is quite loud when using the convection feature. It is also important to place it accordingly, because it needs as much venting as possible, so make sure you leave at least 3 in. around it. If space is an issue for you, you might want to consider another model. You should also avoid encasing it in a cabinet, because, as we’ve already mentioned it, it needs airflow, otherwise it could overheat.
The preset options let you choose the weight/size of the food you want to cook, which ensures a thorough, more even cooking.
Overall, the Cuisinart CMW-20 is a great value for the money. It is extremely versatile and considering the convection feature, reversible grill and its luxurious design with stainless steel, we find it to be fairly priced and quite affordable.
The Cuisinart CMW-200 can be purchased on Amazon for $187.49. There is a limited 3-year warranty included.
