1. Disney Princess Dress Pajamas
Little Disney Princess fans will love these comfy and lightweight princess dress pajamas
Our daughter never really liked the princess dresses or costumes you see in stores. They were too itchy she said and the glitter would end up everywhere – on the floor, in the car, and on our furniture.
So one year we decided to purchase a Snow White nightgown dress
and took it to WDW and on a Disney cruise. She wore it almost daily – for Princess Meet & Greets, character breakfasts and she even wore it to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.
These PJs dresses are a fraction of what the costume dresses sell for and are less messy (glitter be gone!). If you know of a little princess fan heading on a Disney vacation, I’d highly recommend purchasing one of these dresses over the costumes. Just remember to purchase one size bigger so it can be worn on top of their regular play clothes.
You can also find princess dress pajamas on Disney’s online store.
Parents looking for Toy Story, Star Wars or Marvel PJs for their kids can check out shopDisney.com’s selection. It’s much easier for little ones to do meet and greets with these on instead of bulky, heavy costumes.
2. Autograph Book & Markers
Meeting characters and collecting autographs is a big part of any Disney vacation. Consider buying an Autograph Book
before the trip – there are a lot more options available online than what you’ll see in store.
Make sure to include some easy to use markers or pens for the characters to sign with. These Sharpie Retractable Permanent Markers
and fabric markers are what we bring on our Disney trips.
3. Other Items for Collecting Autographs
Blank pillowcases, t-shirts and picture mats
are also a good way to collect Disney character autographs.
They make great souvenirs and are less likely to be ruined after the trip. Because you know, sometimes kids like to rip out pages of their autograph book or draw over the signatures. OK, maybe that’s just my kids 😉
Sharpie Stained Fabric Markers
are good for things like pillowcases, bags, and t-shirts. Remember to bring something stiff to put under the item (like a clipboard or piece of cardboard) for a sturdier writing surface.
If you’re headed to Walt Disney World in Florida, you most likely will experience some rain – anything from drizzle to light showers to heavy downpours. Make sure you have rain ponchos
with you when you’re out at the parks.
You can purchase them at the theme parks and resort hotel gift shops but they are pricey (for what they are) and sizes are limited – they sell out quickly during heavy rain days.
5. Cooling Towel
Planning to head to Disney World, Disneyland or a Caribbean Disney Cruise? Instead of buying a misting fan while you’re on vacation, pack one of these travel-friendly Frogg Toggs Cooling Towels
into your suitcase.
You will definitely need it when the temperatures begin to rise and it’s not bulky like the fans they sell at the parks or gift shops.
6. Disney Guide Books
Guide books and other Disney related books can help with planning and get kids excited about their upcoming trip.
Our family’s favorite Disney books include:
The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2020 (The Unofficial Guides)
The Unofficial Guide to the Disney Cruise Line 2019 (The Unofficial Guides)
Hidden Mickeys: A Field Guide to Walt Disney World’s Best Kept Secrets
Birnbaum’s Walt Disney World For Kids: The Official Guide
Going To Disneyland – A Guide for Kids & Kids at Heart
Disney Parks Presents: It’s A Small World
Junior Encyclopedia of Animated Characters
– you can also use this as an autograph book!
7. Touring Pack/Kit
Park days (Disney World and Disneyland) and port days (Disney Cruise Line) can be long. Kids and sometimes adults can get cranky when hungry or thirsty.
Bringing a lightweight cooler bag and refillable water bottles can minimize the meltdowns and also reduce food and drink costs.
We always have at least two travel mugs – Contigo Travel Mugs
are our water bottle of choice – and a small insulated cooler bag filled with finger foods like Goldfish, pretzels, squeezable fruit pouches and granola bars when we’re headed for the parks or a port of call.
8. Reservations for Special Activities and Experiences
If you want to spend a bit more, you can splurge on Disney activities and experiences like Star Wars Guided Tour at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a Safari experience at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Resort or Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Grand Circle Tour at Disneyland Park and Royal Court Royal Tea on-board Disney cruise ships.
You may be able to make reservations and pay directly on the phone or you might have to use a Disney Gift Card to pay for the experience (read more about Disney Gift Cards below).
You can find out more about special events, activities, and tours on the following pages:
Disney World Events & Tours
Disneyland Events & Tours
Disney Cruise Line Onboard Activities
9. Disney Gift Cards
Help offset some of the cost of the vacation by giving your favorite family a Disney gift card. You can find that at grocery stores, Target, Wal Mart, Disney stores in the U.S, select locations at Disney World Resort in Florida and Disneyland Resort in California, as well as shopDisney.com
Disney Gift Cards are great for teaching kids about how to stay on budget and also reduces the amount of cash you need to carry with you. Just make sure you keep the cards in a safe place until you’re ready to make a purchase.
Where you can use Disney Gift Cards:
- Walt Disney World Resort®
- Disneyland Resort®
- Disney store locations within the U.S. (including Puerto Rico) and Canada
- Disney Cruise Line®

Keep your kids’ cash and gift cards safe in Disney style while touring the parks. These wallets come in tons of different character varieties from Frozen to BB-8, so it’s easy to find your child’s favorite.

True classics. Get your mouse ears ready for your next trip, especially for your little ones visiting the parks for the very first time.
8. Disney Character Bandages ($3.27+)
Disney vacations rarely go perfectly – minor scrapes and blisters are unfortunately par for the course. Although you can always get first aid essentials in the parks at Disney’s first aid centers, having a small first aid kit in your park bag is helpful and saves you a trip for minor boo-boos.
9. Disney Princess & Minnie Mouse collapsible water bottle set ($6.99 for 2)
Collapsible water bottles are perfect for space-saving in your Disney daypack. Refill in the park for free and save a ton of money over buying bottled water.
10. World of Disney Eye Found It Card Game ($5.97)
A travel version of the popular board game, you can play this on the airplane to Disney or even in long theme park lines.
11. Mickey & Minnie Themed Reusable Holiday Tote ($2.95)
Whenever my family travels to Disney parks, I often pick up one of these reusable tote bags. These bags are high quality, eco-friendly, and help put you in a Disney mood every time you head to the grocery store. Use them in the parks for storing extra or wet stuff too.
12. LoungeFly Mickey Balloon Card Wallet ($20.00)
This slim wallet and ID case is the perfect taste of Disney magic for holding a few credit cards or some cash while traveling – or your park tickets or Photopass card on a Disney trip!
13. Mickey Mouse Magic Keepers Lanyard Medal ($12.99)

14. Disney Villains Playing Cards ($5.99)
Keep yourself occupied with a card game on the road to your next Disney vacation. These high quality playing cards feature classics villains like Ursula, the Queen of Hearts, Maleficent and more.
15. Disney themed Imagine Ink drawing book ($6.80)

16. Mickey and Minnie Lanyards (2 for $8.99)
These lanyards do double duty for holding cash and park tickets as well as cutely displaying all your Disney pins for trading.
17. Mickey & Friends Drawstring Backpack ($12.49)
Use this cute backpack for storing wet bathing suits or towels after water rides or extra souvenirs. Or it can function well for a parks bag for your kids.
18. Mickey & Minnie autograph book ($9.95)
What Disney trip would be complete without character autographs? The Disney official autograph books are the best on the market because the paper is thick enough that a clickable Sharpie (easy for character hands to grip) won’t show through. Note: Be sure to get this on the Disney Store website or in the parks because most other retailers (Amazon etc.) have a big markup!
19. Disney World Hacks E-book ($9.39 paperback or free with Kindle Unlimited)
Every good Disney traveler needs to be prepared for their vacation. For travelers headed to Walt Disney World, I highly recommend doing your research with this book. Written by a dear friend and fellow blogger Dia of TheDealMommy.com, Disney World Hacks covers all the secret tips and tricks to make your Disney World vacation better and cheaper, occasionally in unconventional ways. This gift will well pay for itself and then some in the money you save on your Disney vacation.

Are you gifting this season for a family that is planning on going to Disney World or on a Disney Cruise? I’ve rounded up a few ideas on what to gift a family with kids that are Florida bound to the most magical place in the world for a kid!
Disney Bound Travel Accessories and Gadgets
Slinky Dog. Slinky Dog ride is one of the newer rides at Disney World. This would be a great toy for kids to play with to have an appreciation for the ride before they get there!
Cat’s Cradle. For 6-13 year olds, this book will teach them (and entertain them) on how to make shapes out of string with their fingers!
Disney Luggage. If your kids are old enough and responsible enough to carry luggage, this would be a cute tourister bag for them to carry with them!
Bunchems Travel Easel. Seriously, isn’t this the cutest little easel? This will keep your kids entertained on the plane or in the car!
Travel Kit for Kids. This is a travel kit that includes a ton of things kids can do!
Family Pajamas. What family wouldn’t want matching PJs (except dads!).
Disney Bound Kids Gift Ideas for In Park Usage
Below are some other great ideas for gifts that can be used in the park!
Autograph Pillow and Fabric Sharpie. I would get these especially if kids are going on a Disney cruise. This will be a memory of a lifetime that they could also sleep on!
Autograph Books. In lieu of a pillow, your kids can also carry an autograph book to get signed, especially during character meals!
Headbands for Disney Ears. You will regret not bringing your own custom ears! I would find some cute ones to gift that shows the kids personalities.
Beach Towel. Disney resorts are KNOWN for their amazing pools. Make sure the kids have their own beach towel!
Disney hoodie. If the trip is in early part of the year or late part of the year, it does tend to get a little cold, so have a hoodie inside the park might help!
Instatax camera (for the older kids). This is a camera for the kids to use while they are traveling so that you have memories from their point of view!
Costumes for the kids. In the parks, kids are always wearing costumes! Let them feel the magic by getting them costumes.
Disney Gift Card. A Disney gift card is always a nice gift!
Disney Swimsuit. With a beach towel, there’s always a need for a new swimsuit for the trip!
Disney mini-backpack. Your older girls might want to carry stuff, so this is a great way to do that!

The ever-enjoyable Tokyo Disneyland. As much fun as it is to ride the rides and see the shows, shopping for souvenirs can be just as magical. If you’re going to the park for the first time and know you’ll have a hard time deciding just what souvenir to take home with you, worry not. LIVE JAPAN met up with the people in charge for Disney’s merchandise to talk about their selection! We will unveil some of the most popular souvenirs among tourists, brand-new goods of this year, and what to look out for when you’re choosing souvenirs – all in one article!
To further enhance your souvenir shopping plans, also check our Disney’s 2018 Spring Season Souvenirs are here:
This collaboration between a popular treat and Mickey Mouse is a big hit!
Tokyo Banana 1,300 yen
Our merchandise pro at Disney confirms that this product is a top-seller! “Not only is the treat adorably adorned with Mickey heads, the caramel banana flavor is really good,” they say. With its tasty cream wrapped in a fluffy sponge cake, Tokyo Banana is so popular you could even call it the standard Tokyo souvenir these days. Although you can buy their products at certain train stations or directly from their store, Tokyo Disneyland is the only place selling this tasty Mickey collaboration. Though Tokyo Banana makes for a great souvenir, you might want to buy one box just for yourself as well!
These products are even featured in Narita Airport’s pamphlets
Tokyo Disneyland Mickey and Minnie with Traditional Japanese Garments and Umbrellas 3,800 yen each
“These Mickey and Minnie plush dolls are holding umbrellas with ‘Tokyo Disneyland’ written on them in Japanese. About half of the people buying them are from overseas. Since they are on display at Narita Airport and on the front cover of a pamphlet in the airport, there are several customers exclaiming ‘Here they are!!’ as they find them,” explains our contact at Tokyo Disneyland.
Standing 30cm tall, these plush dolls have quite the presence. There are several types to choose from, but the most memorable souvenir might be the ones wearing traditional Japanese clothing, always reminding you of your travels!
Just try hugging him once and you’ll want to take him home with you!
Winnie the Pooh Huggable Pillow (Large) 5,800 yen
Even the Disney staff seems to be quite in love with this goodie: “There are a lot of people hugging these tight as they take them home. It feels comforting and warm.”
The heart-healing Winnie the Pooh is available now as a huggable pillow. There are a variety of sizes of the plushie, but the large one apparently sells the best.
Great for keeping your hair out of your face or just to look good!
Hair Bands 1,500 to 1,600 yen each, Headbands 1,200 yen to 1,400 yen each
“Any products with ears out tend to sell pretty well,” says the Tokyo Disneyland staff.
A big reason for this is that after wearing these adorable headbands and hair bands in the park, you can continue to use them at home to tame your hair or simply to look and feel absolutely adorable!
Goods for your daily rice
Rice Scoop / Rice Scoop Holder 500 yen each, Winnie the Pooh Rice Scoop 800 yen
“Rice is just as much of a staple food in other countries as it is Japan, which explains why these are so popular.”
If you like both Mickey and Minnie, you might be faced with a tough choice. There even is a variety of shoe-shaped rice scoop holders to keep your rice scoop clean as you cook and serve. The Winnie the Pooh scoop has a self-standing handle and there also is a whimsical version shaped like Donald Duck’s foot.
Try to find the characters hidden in popcorn!
Keychains 850 yen each
The Disney staff in charge of merchandise showed us these popcorn keychains and told us: “This really is an interesting item, I really recommend it. They’re also quite affordable.”
“Can you see the little Mickey and Minnie or the Stitch and Toy Story characters in the right picture?” Apparently, these keychains have fans among both the young and the old and people try to collect as many as they can!
Find Mickey hiding in your sushi or soba!
Fake Food Keychains 850 yen each
“There are a variety of different sample food souvenirs. They’re actually pretty popular,” explains the staff.
Japanese people are said to be quite the gourmands, which would explain the appearance of so many food toys. If you take a good look at the eggs in the sushi or soba noodle keychains, you’ll notice the shape of Mickey’s head hidden in the dish! The hamburger-like keychain on the bottom was created in the image of the Glove-Shaped Pork Pau that is sold in the Boiler Room restaurant in Tokyo Disneyland. It even comes with the wrapping paper the original is served in!
Everybody is wearing them! A cute product you use right away.
Passport Case 1,800 yen each
“This one is a really popular product as well. There is a strap to hang it around your neck and a strap to attach it to your bag.”
The vivid colors make for a whimsical fashion accessory
“With a zipper on top, you can use it as a wallet or to put your phone in. The back offers space for a passport or cards.“
There are a lot of people making use of these!
Last chance to buy! If you love Frozen, don’t miss this chance.
Toy Figure 1,500 yen
“Place this fun toy is fun to place on your cup or mug. Because it is so cute, this figurine is massively popular,” says the staff.
March 19th marks the end of the Frozen event which means this product will soon no longer be on shelves. If this is something you fancy getting your hands on, you’d better hurry!
Stainless Steel Bottles for 3,240 yen
“Tumblers have always been a popular product.”
These are thermally insulated tumblers with a simple design. When holding these in your hand, it looks like you’re shaking hands with Mickey or Minnie!
Surprisingly Popular: Made-in-Japan Nail Clippers For 1200 yen
“For some reason, people were buying a lot of these, so we decided to ask why,” explains the staff. “Apparently, nail clippers made in Japan are famous for cutting really well.”
When asking for popular souvenirs of Tokyo Disneyland, this is the first product that was mentioned. The nail clipper in the picture sports the park logo, but there are other nail clippers with character designs as well.
T-shirts with a Simple Logo for 1500 yen
“There are several customers who buy these simply because the packaging is cute.”
The shirts are kept gray to appeal to all kinds of people. This simple but comfortable shirt is all the proof you need that you’ve indeed been to Tokyo and Disneyland! Available in sizes small through extra-large.
Put it on your fridge and never forget
Magnet 600 yen each
“Magnets have been a popular souvenir for a long time.”
Both Disneyland and DisneySea offer a selection of magnets, so take your time to find the one you like most!
Popular products to hang on your bag or cell phone
Straps 1,000 yen each
The Disney merchandise pro recommends these adorable straps as well: “Since they are pretty affordable, there are quite a lot of people buying several at a time or collecting them all.”
Small and adorable, these are perfect souvenirs for every Disney lover.
Listen to Mickey talk!
Magical Balloon Light 2,300 yen each
“If you turn on the switch and walk around the theme park, you can hear Mickey talk to you,” explains the Disney staff.
This whimsical toy has Mickey talk to you in Japanese upon arriving at one of 14 spots all around Tokyo Disneyland. The light flashes in a different color for each location and each color you gather is recorded and saved inside the toy. If you push the button on the back, these colors flash to the Disney theme song. This is a great souvenir for those who know or are studying Japanese.
Keep a smile on your face protect it from the cold as well

In this planning guide:
1. Disney Pin Trading
Disney pins are small metal images with a pin back depicting characters or Disney attractions from the parks typically displayed on a lanyard worn around your neck. Disney pin trading is a program where guests interact with cast members and other park guests.
To participate, one must purchase an official Disney pin and then find a cast member with a set of Disney pins of their own. Approach the Disney cast member and request to trade pins. Indicate the pin that you would like to trade for and give them the one you would like in exchange. Cast Members honor all trading requests whereas other guests may only trade for a pin they want.
Be sure to check out the ultimate guide to Disney Pin Trading.
2. Classic Disneyland Mouse Ears
Since the beginning of Disneyland, the classic black Mickey Mouse ears have been the perfect souvenir. While Disney does sell crazy looking themed ears, I suggest sticking with all black. Have the entire family purchase ears and get each of your names embroidered.
Get your name embroidered on your hat at:
- The Mad Hatter Shop: This crazy hat store actually has two locations. One on Main Street just as you enter the park, and the second in Fantasyland adjacent to the Mad Tea Party.
- Hatmosphere: This small hat shop in Tomorrowland is another great place to get your pair of Mickey Ears and have them embroidered.
After you have your ears, take fun pictures of the entire family from the back or the front. The pictures come out beautifully from the back, as seen above.
3. Silhouettes on Main Street
On Main Street in Disneyland, visit the Disney Silhouette Studio and get a hand-cut a silhouette of you or your child’s head. For $9.45 a person you get two identical copies of your silhouettes.
The skill of the artisan Cast Members is absolutely amazing. They can outline any head with a hat or without to create an inexpensive souvenir that you will want to to keep forever.
4. Disneyland Pressed Pennies
Around the park there are machines that will press your penny into a design representing Disneyland. For example, in the shop next to Pirates of the Caribbean a guest can get a penny stamped out to have the “Dead Men Tell No Tales” saying imprinted.
To get a pressed penny it costs 51 cents. One penny to get pressed and two quarters to pay. Make sure that you have shiny pennies, because the designs look the best on those. There are also pressed quarter machines that cost more.
Purchase a pressed penny book in Disneyland to collect pennies from all of the machines around the parks.
If you visit Guest Relations at Disneyland, you can pickup a map of all of the different locations to get a Disneyland pressed penny.
5. Disneyland Name Paintings
In Disneyland adjacent to the Matterhorn and at a kiosk in Downtown Disney, Disney sells watercolor paintings of your name.
The price is about $5 per letter. Each letter is illustrated to look like a certain Disney movie or Disney character. One letter name squares are also available.
Where to put the souvenirs once you have them….
- Lockers are available at both parks for $7-$15 per day in both of the theme parks.
- If you plan to spend at least 2 more hours in the theme park, have your purchase be sent to the front gate at Package Pickup. Just stop by Package Pickup as you leave the park at the end of the day. In Disneyland, packages can be picked up at the newsstand on the Downtown Disney side (right side) of the area between the turnstiles and the train station. In Disney California Adventure, packages can be picked up at the front of the park
Throughout Disneyland and Disney California Adventure you will see Disney characters. These characters are all available for photographs and most will also give you their autograph.
6. Disney Character Autographs
The Disney Characters will give you a fun Disney autograph. It is a very good idea to have a Disney autograph book to keep all of your autographs in. Autograph books can be found on Disney Store.com –I suggest purchasing one online in advance to save time and to choose the perfect one.
When you are in the parks ask the characters to only sign their autograph on the right page and leave the left side pages open. Take a picture of your child with the character and add it to the left page. It makes for a great way to keep your photographs.
7. Disney’s PhotoPass
One of the best souvenirs for remembering your trip to the Disneyland Resort are the pictures that you bring home with you. These pictures will last a lifetime in your family photo album and are something to cherish for years to come. Disneyland has their own crew of PhotoPass photographers strategically placed around the park and ready to take your picture.
PhotoPass at the Disneyland Resort offers a variety of photography options for guests at Disneyland. We’ve put together an extensive guide on PhotoPass, the benefits of MaxPass, and tips for taking the best pictures at Disneyland- read our extensive guide to PhotoPass at the Disneyland Resort HERE.
